"Yes/No", "Good Good Loving": Banky W keeps it R&B in the R&BW album

On Monday, Banky W released two more tracks from his forthcoming R&BW album. Currently, Banky W is about the most successful Nigerian artist in terms of the period of time between the release of his first single in Nigeria, to becoming a household name in the Nigerian music industry, and today, the boss of one of the top 3 record labels in Nigeria, E.M.E Records, home to another astronomically successful artist, Ayo "Wizkid" Balogun.

Listening through the entire Banky W discography, the uniqueness of his style is apparently his high regard for quality and standard. From "Don't Wanna" and "Make U Feel", off his first album, the "Undeniable" LP, through "Strong Ting" (one of the best R&B songs ever by a Nigerian) from "The W Experience" LP, Banky W has continued to keep it very R&B, and my guess is because he focuses on delivering to the global music industry, and leans less toward making local 'club bangers'.

No doubt, Banky is a role model of most young and emerging artists, however, one must wonder how it is that these upcoming artists have adamantly insisted that the route to success in Nigerian music is by lacing dilute lyrics on concentrated instrumentals. The lessons remain unlearnt.
